3 Questions To Ask Moving Companies

Moving across the country is never easy. It takes a lot of time and forethought to make sure your move goes through smoothly and effortlessly. As you prepare to move from one state to another, there are a few questions you need to ask possible moving companies to make sure you get movers who are going to work for you and your needs.

How much insurance is provided on the contents?

One of the main things you want to find out is whether your contents are going to be protected or not. You don't want to have items damaged in the move and end up finding out that you are going to have to replace them on your own. The moving company should be able to let you know how much coverage they provide on your items. While some moving companies are willing to cover the full cost value of your contents, others only cover a certain dollar amount such as $5,000 or $10,000. Every company is different so you need to make sure you know what you are dealing with first to make sure there is no confusion down the line.

How quickly will the contents get to the final destination?

Another thing you need to know is how quickly your belongings are going to make it to your new residence. You don't want to have your contents taking a week or two to get to you when another company might be able to get them there in a couple of days. Each company has their own schedule and carrier times, so you need to go over all of the specifics beforehand to make sure you aren't waiting around for your items to arrive when they could have been delivered already.

Are there any extra expenses that could be incurred?

You want to make sure there aren't any extra expenses that could pop up on you along the way. Examples of added expenses might be additional labor fees for moving a heavy piano or extended transportation times that were out of the moving company's control. The company can often give you a list of possible extra expenses so that you can prepare ahead of time for any possible what ifs that might arise along the way.

By asking the three questions above, you can make sure you get a company that is going to work for you and your needs.
